Aaran’s Cozy At-Home Portrait Session

I love at-home portrait sessions. There’s something so cozy, intimate and natural about them.

These are the photos that in 20 or 30 years, your kids will cherish. The knowledge that these were taken where they grew up, brings an added dose of nostalgia and makes these images a kind of historical record for the family.

Little Aaran was absolutely precious and full of energy during our session. With toddlers, I love to go with the flow. The world is so new to them, and they are explorers of their little kingdoms. Why try to force them to sit still? The goal is to go along for the ride,  let them have fun, and capture those wonderful expressions of their personality.

Here are some of my favourites from Aaran’s session at his family’s home in Markham.

Autumn in Muskoka: Sinthu and Brian’s Engagement Session

“Now Autumn’s fire burns slowly along the woods and day by day the dead leaves fall and melt.” - William Allingham

Autumn is such an exquisite season, so vibrant, warm and ephemeral in its beauty.  It’s the season that makes me thankful for our other three seasons.

My wonderful cousin got engaged recently to an equally wonderful man. They make a fantastic couple, and I know they will make each other very happy!

Sinthu’s favourite season is autumn so we decided to make the trek out to Arrowhead Provincial Park in Muskoka to see if we could capture that quintessential Canadian autumn in their engagement photos. It was a cold afternoon and the road into the park was closed so we hiked into the park and took some photos along the way. These two were troopers! Here are some of my favourites!

Sunrise + Mist + Lots of Love: A Country Maternity Session

Pregnancy is an incredible journey and such a momentous time in life that it deserves to be recorded with an artist’s touch.

This maternity session was extra special for me because Alex is my boyfriend’s sister and she and her partner Mauro are expecting their first little bundle of joy!

I am so excited to meet little Cecilia when she arrives. It is mind blowing imagining another little person joining our world in just two months. I do a mental double-take whenever I think about it. These two are going to make wonderful parents! Exciting times!

Alex and Mauro wanted a sunrise session so we got up bright and early and sought out the rising sun. It was a cold wet morning with frost covering the grounds and mist in the air, but these two braved the cold; chased the sun; and we got some lovely photographs to remember this time.
